Foster carers come from all walks of life. Caring for someone’s else’s child who is unable to live with their biological parents is a special thing.
I have a background in working in foster care and have been a foster carer myself. With this experience and my expertise as a psychologist I provide support and counselling to foster carers.
Issues I have assisted carers and young people with include:
- navigating the unique experience of foster care;
- transitioning into a new placement for the carers and child;.
- managing challenging behaviours in children and young people; and
- trauma and its impact upon the child and foster family.
